§ 8-110. Tax for installation and operation of an emergency 911 telephone service.

  • (a)

    The service fee or tax to install and operate an Emergency 911 Telephone Service within The City of Norman, Oklahoma, shall be a percentage of the amount received from the tariff for exchange telephone service or its equivalent, computed as follows:

    (1)

    Not to exceed five (5) percent for the first year;

    (2)

    Not to exceed three (3) percent for any year thereafter;

    (3)

    Such fee or tax shall be initially imposed for a period of three (3) years, after which the City Council of the City of Norman may renew the levy of such fee or tax for not longer than three (3) years per renewal.

    (b)

    The rates hereinabove described are effective on April 17, 1987, and thereafter, conditioned upon said service and tax being approved by a majority of the qualified voters voting in an election called for such purpose on Mar. 17, 1987.
